StormWater Pros & CAP: Clearing the Way for Water
At StormWater Pros, our mission is clear: Conserving Water for a Sustainable Future. This commitment drives every project we undertake, especially our collaboration with the Central Arizona Project (CAP)—a vital initiative that delivers Colorado River water to over 80% of Arizona’s population across Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties.
Understanding the Importance of CAP Turnouts
CAP's extensive 336-mile canal system includes over 50 turnouts—critical structures that divert water to cities, tribal communities, agricultural districts, and recharge projects. These turnouts are essential for distributing water efficiently and reliably throughout the region.
Our Role in Maintaining Turnout Efficiency
Over time, turnouts can accumulate debris, algae, and unfortunately, a significant number of fish that become trapped and do not survive. Our Hydro Vactor teams are instrumental in addressing these challenges. Utilizing advanced hydro-excavation equipment, we:
Remove Debris and Algae: Preventing blockages and ensuring optimal water flow.
Dispose of Trapped Fish: Clearing out the large volume of fish that often collect in the holding areas, keeping systems clean and operational.
Support Infrastructure Integrity: Regular cleaning and maintenance help prevent structural issues and prolong the lifespan of the turnouts.
Aligning with Our Conservation Mission
Our partnership with CAP exemplifies our dedication to water conservation. By ensuring the turnouts operate efficiently, we contribute to the broader goal of sustainable water management in Arizona. This collaboration not only supports the immediate needs of water distribution but also aligns with long-term environmental stewardship.
Looking Ahead
As we continue our work with CAP, we remain committed to innovative solutions and practices that uphold our mission. Together, we aim to secure a sustainable water future for Arizona.
