StormWater Pros Partners with Water For Life Charity & ROAM Humanitarian to Empower Communities in Tanzania

At StormWater Pros, we believe in the transformative power of clean water—not just for its role in sustaining life, but for its potential to empower communities and foster growth. That’s why we are proud to announce our collaboration with Water For Life Charity and ROAM Humanitarian on the Tanzania 2024 Water Project, which took place from November 23 to December 3, 2024. Together, we made significant strides toward improving the quality of life for families in the Kikatiti region of Arusha, Tanzania.

The project, which focused on providing clean water, empowering women, and supporting basic needs, has already made a lasting impact on the community. Here’s an update on the key aspects of the project, and what’s next as we continue our service in Tanzania.

The Kikatiti Water Well: A Lifeline for the Community

One of the central components of the Tanzania 2024 Water Project was the drilling of a new water well in Kikatiti, Arusha, Tanzania. Prior to the well, women and children in the community had to walk long distances—often facing physical dangers, exhaustion, and even abuse—just to collect water from unsafe sources. Thanks to the generous support of StormWater Pros, Water For Life Charity, and other partners, this new well is providing over 5,000 local residents with a reliable and clean water source.

Key details about the well:

  • Location: Kikatiti, Arusha, Tanzania, Africa

  • Well Depth: 400 feet

  • Well Capacity: 200 gallons per hour

  • Well Service: Over 5,000 local residents

  • Well Cost: $25,000

With this well in place, women no longer need to spend hours walking to collect water, and families have reliable access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene. This simple yet transformative project has improved health outcomes and safety for the community, and it’s just the beginning.

The Women’s Center: Empowering Women for a Brighter Future

The new well is closely tied to the ongoing construction of a women’s center, a critical space for empowerment, education, and support for women and girls in Kikatiti. Before the well, the daily burden of fetching water often kept women and girls from attending school or participating in community activities. Now, the women’s center will provide a safe space for education, vocational training, and healthcare services.

As the center continues to take shape, it will offer women the tools, skills, and confidence needed to lead their families and communities toward greater opportunities. The center will also provide much-needed resources to help women start businesses, improve their health, and access support networks that enable them to thrive.

Looking Ahead: Returning to Tanzania for Continued Service

The impact of the Tanzania 2024 Water Project has been profound, but the work doesn’t stop here. StormWater Pros, Water For Life Charity, and ROAM Humanitarian are returning to Tanzania in the coming year to continue their service and expand their efforts.

This next trip in Spring of 2025 will focus on providing additional water filters to families and continuing the vital work on the women’s center. StormWater Pros founder Brig Christensen will be joining the team to help lead these efforts and ensure that the progress made continues to benefit the community for years to come.

Through these ongoing projects, we will help provide more families with access to safe, clean drinking water, ensure that more women and girls have access to education and healthcare, and create lasting change in the region. Our collective commitment to the people of Tanzania is stronger than ever, and we are excited to see the continued progress that this collaboration will bring.
