Project Spotlight: Laurence School Redevelopment, Valley Glen, CA

We are excited to announce the successful completion of our drywell installation project in Southern California! This project took place at the Laurence School redevelopment in Valley Glen, CA, where we worked in collaboration with Flamingo Construction to ensure the project stayed on track—despite some major scheduling challenges.

The Challenge: A Last-Minute Call to Action

Originally, another contractor was scheduled to install the drywells but couldn't meet the timeline. As a result, the general contractor (GC) had to move forward with the foundation work without installing the drywells—a crucial part of stormwater infrastructure that should have been addressed before pouring the footings.

Utility subcontractor Flamingo Construction, who brought us onto the project, had no choice but to wait until the foundation work was completed. Meanwhile, the GC pushed ahead, with a crane scheduled to arrive on-site on the 18th to begin constructing the new building. This meant that if the drywells weren’t installed before the crane move-in, the opportunity would be lost, causing delays that would disrupt the project’s timeline even further.

Our Solution: Swift Action to Save the Day

With the clock ticking, we were called in to tackle the problem at the last minute. Our team quickly mobilized, set up on-site, and executed the drywell installation in time—just before the crane’s arrival. By completing the work under tight constraints, we ensured that the schedule was preserved, allowing the Laurence School redevelopment to proceed as planned.

Key Takeaways: The Importance of Timely Drywell Installation

This project was a clear example of why drywell installation should happen early in a construction timeline, before any major structural work. Drywells are essential for stormwater infrastructure, and installing them after foundations are in place adds unnecessary complications and risks to the project schedule.

At StormWater Pros, we pride ourselves on being adaptable and responsive, able to step in at a moment’s notice to get the job done. But we also emphasize the importance of involving us early in the project to avoid potential delays and challenges.

Conclusion

The Laurence School project is just one example of our team's dedication to overcoming obstacles and delivering high-quality stormwater solutions under pressure. As we continue to expand into Southern California, we look forward to bringing this level of service and expertise to even more projects across the region.
